MAC’s Baking Beauties collection is delicious

After beauty, a cake is my next favorite thing – eating it, making it, talking about it, whatever. So MAC’s combination of the two, Baking Beauties, has got me very excited. The collection is inspired by Marie Antoinette-esque frosted confections, with pastel colored products with some mouth-watering names and some beautiful campaign imagery. I wish I could just crawl into that top one!

Everything in this line makes me hungry. I love the nail polishes; creamy colors that bring to mind buttercream icing on a birthday cake, including Confectionary, a light pink, Bleu Velvet, periwinkle blue and Pistachio Crème, a pale mint.

The lipsticks add a bit of darkness to the collection – well one does: they had to get devil’s food cake in there somewhere! Pure Decoration is a light peach, Raspberry Swirl is a blue pink, Lavender Whip is a cool lavender and Devil’s Food is a frost-finish deep plum.

Obviously, there has to be some shimmer in there, which comes in the form of two glitter post, Reflects Transparent Teal, a sparkly turquoise and the self-explanatory Pink (a pink).

You can usually expect a nice ornamental palette in MAC’s collections, there are two in this one, with each Pearlmatte Face Powder featuring a decorative flower. Pink Buttercream is below, with a light silvery pink base with dark pink flowers and periwinkle blue leaves.

Most of the collection is limited edition, meaning when it comes out in April you’d better be quick if you want some!
